Harriet²

20 02 2009

Harriet² is a new play coming to the Connecticut shoreline. It’s produced by ETC, Emerson Theater Collaborative. Harriet² is a play about two women fighting to end slavery, and the different paths they took along the way.

Harriet Beecher Stowe’s story is written and performed by Emma Palzere-Rae. Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin which, at that time, was a very controversial piece of literature about the truth of slavery.

Harriet Tubman’s story is written by Lisa Giordano and performed by Camilla Ross. Harriet Tubman escaped from slavery and helped rescue countless slaves. She would gather the slaves at night and lead them on a journey North, to freedom.

There will be six performances held at the Union Baptist Church.

I designed all the collateral for this production and past productions by ETC. The portraits of Emma as Harriet Beecher Stowe and Camilla as Harriet Tubman were created with pastels.
