Day 17 – 30 Days of Creativity

7 07 2011

I did some wedding invitations for a client (which I will show in a later post… can you feel the suspense??) And I used a transparent, vellum that will have the text on it and lay over the illustration that I did. I just finished printing and cutting all the pieces for the invites, and I was left with a pile of vellum pieces all the same size…  What to do with lots of paper all the same size… hmmmmmmm.

I thought it would be fun to create a sketchbook with this paper. The only catch is that you can see through the paper, and for that reason, you have to start drawing in the back. That way the drawing will evolve as you move forward, and each layer moves back.

I punched holes in the side and used twine to tie it together in a creative way. The cover says “WackBards” (which is a funny way of saying BackWards) and a dotted line that starts with “End” and ends with “Start”.

Here is a pic of the front tied together nicely:

And here is a pic of the last page, which is really the first page…

I like making books though I’m not very skilled at it, I think this was a fun project and I will try to post periodically as I fill up the pages to show the evolution of it. I guess you could say it’s an ever changing piece of art in itself!

Let me know if you are interested in purchasing a WackBards Sketchbook handmade by Sarah The Artist!

Day 15 – 30 days of creativity

6 07 2011

I found a tutorial to create this and i thought it would turn into a trivet, but the twine I used isn’t thick enough. So it’s just a design. But if I made them a little smaller they could be coasters. So I need to make a bunch of small ones!
